The Shere (or Sere) is a traditional rattle used in Yoruba culture and various spiritual ceremonies. This instrument is commonly employed to accompany chants, ceremonies, and ritual practices.
Within different spiritual traditions, the Shere is widely used in ceremonies and chants dedicated to various Orishas, including:
• Sango • Yemoja • Esu / Elegua
It is also used on altars and in ceremonial spaces as a ritual and cultural instrument.
Each piece is made from natural gourd, so slight variations in shape, size, and texture may exist.
