History of Inle – The Divine Physician of the Orishas
🕊️ Origin and essence:
Inle (also known as Erinlé, Erinle or Ochosi Inle in some traditions) is one of the wisest and purest Orishas in the Yoruba pantheon. He is the physician of the Orishas, the patron of health, medicine, and fishing.
His energy represents the balance between body and soul, science and spirituality, land and water.
Inle lives in fresh waters, especially in rivers where the water is clear and calm. There he keeps the secrets of healing herbs and the mysteries of life. He is considered a great hunter, fisherman, and healer, who deeply understands plants, animals, and natural remedies.
He is greeted with the phrase:
Inle omí tutu, omí rere, omí sheborá!
(meaning: “Inle, fresh water, good water, water that gives life”).
💚 Legend of Inle and divine medicine:
An ancient patakí (Yoruba legend) tells that there was a time when a terrible disease struck the Earth. Men fell ill and not even the Orishas knew how to stop the evil.
Olofi, the supreme God, worried about the situation, sent for Inle, for he was known for his wisdom and his knowledge of plants and waters.
Inle, humbly, took his bag of herbs, his fish, and his medical instruments. He spent days observing nature, mixing leaves, flowers, and honeys until he discovered the remedies that healed the sick.
With them, he cured men and also restored strength to the weakened Orishas.
Since then, Olofi appointed him Divine Physician, protector of health and purity.

Inle teaches that true health comes from balance — between body and mind, between silence and action, between love and respect for nature.
Whoever invokes his energy seeks clarity, well-being, and inner peace. He is the Orisha who heals without judging, who helps without noise, and who accompanies those who work for the well-being of others.
